How To Set Default Contact Storage Android
-
Howdy. I accept a Samsung S10E. I have an Outlook365 email account which is my primary business relationship for all emails and contact storage.
I initially added the Outlook365 mailbox to Samsung'southward native email app, hoping it would instantly fill the contacts section upwards with my 20k contacts and fill up my calendar up similar iPhone did. That didn't happen. I take a Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync contour in my native Contacts app with 0 contacts.
And so, I installed the Outlook app. Now all my contacts appear in the native contacts app. But, nothing in the calendar.
So I added my Office365 account via Gmail. At present that problem is solved also.
But what I now have in my Contacts app is 3 profiles, and I have no idea where new contacts are being saved. For instance, if I create a new contact from Whatsapp, where is that contact being stored? And is it all being backed upward in my Outlook database to be easily retrieved when I log in on my laptop? Three profiles merely to get my database and calendar working where one did the chore perfectly on iPhone. I feel like I must be doing something wrong.
Please advise. And thank you.

Sure, I can relate to yous on this result.
There's an easy fix for this. Open up the contacts app ->tap the three lines on the left -> manage contacts ->default storage location. You'll change that there.
Your contacts are stored in the default storage location that the phone automatically set. For any contacts you recently added with this phone, I would advise deleting the contact on that contour and add together it to your Gmail later changing the location.
Personally, as someone who uses just a regular Outlook account, I would delete the mailbox/contacts y'all added to Samsung'south email arrangement (but after changing the storage location of grade). The Gmail account should work fine.
There is a paid app (one-time payment) that does all of the connections well with Microsoft accounts called "9" (you can search Nine email in the play store) only yous should try the Gmail account way starting time.

Thank you! I had a feeling this might exist the answer.
I fabricated the Contact contour 'Substitution' with a Gmail icon the default contact profile.
I tin continue to operate all e-mail through the Outlook app or through the gmail app right? Doesn't make any difference now?
can I unhook Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync from Contacts safely?
Doesn't seem like it'south doing anything at this point, right?
How about Outlook?

You're welcome!
Yes, you lot can unhook from Contacts with no trouble with your ActiveSync.I call back you should be only fine. It's probably not doing much aside from indistinguishable contacts. Unless you lot only want an electronic mail business relationship for checking and sending emails, you can remove the outlook app too.
Since it sounds like y'all made your business relationship an Exchange account in Gmail, that should comprehend the sync and agenda connections.
